Unaware of the fact that Tori's desperation was simply a clever tactic, Madison smirked, instead taking it to mean that the other girl had underestimated her. She watched confidently, as Soul attempted to avoid Jade's attack. She wasn't at all worried about the outcome of this round, and it showed in her posture. In her mind, even if Soul dodged this one, it wouldn't matter. Jade could keep to the air and fire attack after attack, and eventually the eevee would fall.
The area took care of that for her, a moment later. Soul had evaded for a few minutes, but had then tripped and allowed the Dragonbreath to hit its mark.
"Great job, Jade!"
The flygon landed nearby, snorting a little. She didn't necessarily feel too great about having been so rough on a smaller pokemon, but it was what Madison had wanted. Soul hadn't been a complete pushover either, as some of her panting suggested. Madison made a thoughtful noise to herself, as she realized her dragon seemed tired. Tough or not, Jade was the weakest pokemon on her team- and this wasn't a great sign, whether she'd fainted the eevee or not. Madison had her doubts as to how long the Hoenn dragon could keep this up, and thought about recalling her, but decided against it. She would see how much further Jade could go, before she did that, and turned her attention back to Tori as she recalled Soul.
"Yeah, the little guy wasn't so bad! Heh, let's hope the rest of the battle will be this entertaining."
She had little doubts about that, after seeing what Tori had been able to do with such a tiny little pokemon. She was eager to see the next one, even though Jade didn't. The Flygon took a few steps backwards, as flames shot out for effect, a bit intimidated. Madison just stood there, with her arms crossed, trying to seem unmoved. She was curious about what would come from all that showy stuff, but she certainly wasn't too worried. Not like Jade.
The pokemon that replaced the eevee was impressive. Another type that Madison had never seen before. Well, Tori was just full of surprises, wasn't she? Madison wasn't certain what this pokemon was- the way it looked, a few types were possible. She would have to wait until she saw the creature in battle, obviously. It was Jade's turn to serve as a scout.
"Gon..."
The Flygon eyed the Wyvereon warily, not too eager about its vicious attitude, with how tired she already was.
"Jade, try to move out of the way, fly!"
The large dragon attempted to do as Madison had asked, but her energy was low at this point, and as result, her speed had become lowered as well. She'd only gotten a little off the ground, when the dragonbreath hit her head on- knocking her back down to the ground.
"Jade, try and get up!"
The flygon struggled to push herself up, obviously in pain, but failed. She only managed a few seconds of struggling, before she collapsed again- fainted by the super-effective move.
"Hmm.. Well, that one certainly packs a punch! a dragon-type?"
Madison recalled Jade quickly, trying to assess the next best move. She didn't have any ice pokemon, and Jade was the only dragon. Avalanche might be able to prove himself useful, but she had no guarantee that Wyvereon didn't know something extremely effective against this creature. She'd have to test him out a little, try and wear his energy out.
"Viper, you're up!"
She sent out her Seviper next, which gave a dangerous hiss- ready to fight and attack whatever was in the immediate area.

Tori gave a smirk as Wyvreon hit his mark. She knew that the type match up was good and to her delight, and dismay, Drake was able to finish off Jade in one hit. True the dragon type had just gone up against her eevee, and she knew that Jade was probably one of Madison's weaker pokemon, but still she would have rather used a different pokemon if it was only going to take one hit. However, she knew that whatever other pokemon Madison owned would probably be very strong.
"Wonderful job Drake! You did a fantastic job! Return!"
Tori glanced at her Wyvreon as she recalled the dragon type to his pokeball just as Madison called out her Seviper. Tori stared at the large poison snake pokemon for a while before choosing a pokemon. With a nod of her head, Tori signaled her Zephyeon that it was her turn.
Sam gave a cute little mew before assuming her position against the menacing snake. To be honest the giant snake pokemon intimidated her a bit, but she wasn't about to show it.
"Well I believe it's your turn to make the first move so please go ahead."
Tori put her hands in her pockets showing that she wasn't to worried about her decison to use Zephyeon. She had a strategy already formulated and although Sam didn't know any super affective moves against a poison type like Madison's seviper, Tori was confident that Sam could take down her opponent.

Unlike Sam, the large poison pokemon was not inclined toward acting cute and friendly in any way. The serpent gave a vicious hiss and flicked her bladed tail aggressively, as Zephyeon mewed cutely. Viper was uninterested in formalities. All she cared about was fighting and winning, and doing so as maliciously as Madison would allow. Though the snake was a dangerous creature, she had come to respect her tamer over the years. They had moved on from the animosity that had once existed between them, and come to an understanding. Madison was the only person Viper would ever listen to- and she would do what her tamer wanted, even if it meant holding back from being as violent as she wanted.
"Hmm.."
Madison eyed Tori's Zephyeon thoughtfully as the other trainer insisted it was her turn to go first, obviously trying to formulate a strategy of her own. As far as Madison knew, poison types weren't particularly amazing against flying- and vice versa. The type matchups didn't provide either of them a clear and easy way to win this round. But.....that did make things more interesting, Madison had to say. It meant the both of them had to think harder about this, and turn to strategy over power. She preferred power, of course, but she could certainly use strategy. She just needed to actually think of one here, first. Might as well start with an attack in the process.
"Viper, Night slash!"
The Seviper hissed, and the blade on her tail began to glow, before becoming enveloped in a black and purple aura. Uncoiling herself, the large snake lunged forward, lashing out at Sam with the tip of her tail.

Tori glanced over at Madison smirking with a dark delight at how the battle was turing out. She knew that her Zephyeon and Madison's Seviper knew no super effect moves against each other, but that was the reason she had done this in the first place. She wanted to see just how strong Madison could be. She had proven a lot of potential when she battled in the first round and she couldn't wait to see what the outcome would be.
Her attention snapped back to reality as Madison called her first attack. Tori watched as the menacing snake pokemon weild back to produce a powerful night slash attack. Tori nodded her head, impressed by the trainer's selection of an attack. However, when it came to speed, Sam was Tori's ace in the hole.
"SAM! Jump into the air and hover just above that Seviper and then use double team while circling around it's head."
Zephyeon nodded and nimbly, yet gracefully, dodged Seviper's attack. Zephyeon let a little gurgle almost to torture the Seviper as she began to circle around Seviper's head. Her double team attack was great for baffling enemies and the way Sam had executed the command, made it seem like there were no clones at all.
" Now Sam while it's focused on finding the real you, USE AIR SLASH!"
Sam smiled at her trainer's command. She had been used to this combo and powered up to release an air slash attack and then launched it.

"Great." Madison narrowed her eyes, as she realized the growing severity of the situation. It didn't surprise her in the least that Sam had taken to the air; in fact, she would have been a fool if she hadn't anticipated this. It had been fairly obvious that Zephyeon was going to take to the air at some point in the battle, and though Viper wasn't exactly equipped to take on aerial opponents, it wasn't Sam's field advantage that had her concerned. It was the double team.
Viper was flicking her tail irritably, and hissing. She would lash out at what she thought was the Zephyeon whenever the creature appeared to wander too close for mockery, but she would always come back with nothing to sink her fangs into. The snake was getting more irate by the second, and that was a bad sign. Not only for this turn in the battle, but for anybody nearby. Viper was one of her most aggressive pokemon, and though she was also loyal now, there was never any guarantee she wouldn't do something that could hurt people. She had to do something, and fast, before the snake got the idea of putting the trainer in danger.
But while Madison was trying to come up with that, Sam's air slash pounded into the Seviper, knocking her over and causing a loud hiss that meshed pain and aggravation. Viper didn't even wait for her to give an attack. She was so upset at the other pokemon, that she lashed out with her tail; trying to knock Sam from the air.
"Ungh.."
There was nothing Madison could really do about it, at this point. She had half a mind to shout at her Seviper, but it wouldn't do them any good. It was unusual, she had to say, to be torn between cheering her pokemon's brutal technique on- if it meant victory for them- or hoping that her opponent's pokemon managed to avoid it.

Zephyeon seemed to smile as her air slash attack hit it's mark. However, Tori had begun to notice how irratated the snake had become and wondered if she should call the whole thing off. Of course this was only a passing thought and soon Tori had come up with another stragtegy.
Sam continued to hover in the air awaiting an order from her trainer when the Seviper lunged out with it's tail and knocked the poor flying type right out of the air. Of course neither Sam nor Tori had expected this move considering that Madison hadn't even given her pokemon a command. Tori blinked as she tried to asess the best plan of action. Tori wanted to scold the Seviper, but she realized that since she hardly knew much about Madison's Seviper it would probably be a bad idea to "connect" to it.
Sam lay on the ground as poison seeped into her wound. Tori had had enough and she knew that she had to finish the Seviper up soon.
"SAM! Fly high into the air towards the sun and hide in it's shadows! Then when your ready use your Blizzard!"
Tori was now partly enraged by the Seviper's demeanor towards her beloved pokemon and she wasn't going to go easy on them. Sam growled as it spread it's large wings out and took off like a rocket into the sky. She flew towards the sun until the shadow's hid her causing even Tori some difficulty seeing where her pokemon was.

Madison almost grimaced, when Viper's attack hit its mark, but managed to suppress such a thing. She felt a little bad, mostly because that had been something of a sneak attack; a move neither tamer or pokemon had expected, since she hadn't ordered it. But, the guilt was short-lived. Battle was like this, from time to time. The goal was to faint the other person's pokemon, wasn't it? So what sense would it make bemoaning the fact her snake had poisoned and hit her foe's pokemon? The more she thought about, the more she realized it made little difference to her. She would have ordered an attack just like it- the end result was the same. So, why worry?
She managed a grin, at those thoughts. Well, maybe she'd come out of this on top after all. But why had she ever doubted that?
"Finish it, Viper!"
Perhaps that had been the wrong choice of words. She didn't want Viper to kill the Zephyeon or anything, she just wanted it fainted. Surely, as a capable battler, Tori would understand that. But, she'd wasted too much time. Sam had managed to pick herself up, and flew high into the sky; completely shielded by the bright sunlight. Madison tried to find her, squinting and shielding her eyes with a one hand, but no good. Viper hissed again, glancing skyward, trying to do the same thing- and to much the same effect.
"Hmm.."
Nothing seemed to be happening yet- although, it wasn't a good thing, now that Sam was hard to find and Tori had commanded a blizzard.
"Viper..Just, hang in there okay?"
The snake hissed with both exasperation and frustration, not having found that a very decent suggestion. Moments later, the blizzard had begun; howling wind and snow slamming into the snake. Madison had to look away, as the wind whipped her way, not at all used to or a fan of such cold temperatures.
"Try using a dig!"
The ground was probably starting to freeze, which would make it more difficult for Viper to burrow beneath the ground, but anything was better than taking these frigid temperatures head on. She waited for the Seviper to follow orders, but the snake never even tried to use a dig. She couldn't hear her tamer, over the frigid, powerful winds.
It was a powerful blizzard too, effective since the snake was just as unused to the cold as her tamer. When the attack had faded and the area cleared, Viper was quite obviously knocked out.
"No!"
Madison humphed to herself, as she recalled the poison snake pokemon. Well, she'd have to be careful about such attacks- and take these kinds of things more seriously. She studied Tori's face for a moment, before looking back at the pokeballs she had left.
So, it was time to get serious was it? Madison recalled that the Zepheyon had appeared to be poisoned, meaning it was probably weaker at this state than she would have been otherwise. She knew the perfect pokemon to call out, then.
"Jolt, you're up!"
With a smirk, Madison released her manectric. The sun was still making it hard to see just where Sam was, but with a little luck....that wasn't going to matter much anymore.
"Shock wave!"
The blue and yellow canine howled, before unleashing a torrent of electric energy into the area.

Tori smiled and did a little victory dance as Sam executed her powerful blizzard attack and nailed the Seviper, knocking it out.
"Excellent job Sam! Way to go!"
The Zephyeon let out a happy bark and flew out of the shadow of the sun where she could be seen. She did a little aerial flip as she decended a couple of feet. Of course this was not the best course of action because of the pokemon Madison selected next. Sam winced as the effects of poison still bothered her and froze when she saw which pokemon was summoned.
Tori's eyes fixed on the powerful electric dog as he sent out a giant shockwave. She was about to tell Sam to dodge, but it was to late. The powerful electric move struck the Zephyeon in a critical hit.
"PHHHHHHHWEEEEEEEEEYAH!"
Sam let out a large and tortured cry as the zap nearly knocked her out. When Sam managed to break free she plumeted towards the ground and fell on a nearby patch of grass. Tori was mortified as she ran over to inspect the damage on her her precious Zephyeon. As she ran over towards Sam, the little flying type struggled to get to her feet, but eventually regained her footing. Tori shook her head knowing full well that this battle wouldn't take long if she left Sam out.
"Wonderful job Sam! Take a little breather 'cause I might need you later!"
With that Tori pulled out her pokeball, which contained Sam, and called her back.
"I'll give you this, that Manectric is pretty tough. Type advantage or no it takes quite a bit to damage Sam that much. Kudos to you, but lets see how it fairs against Drake!"
Smirking and brimming with energy, Tori selected Drake's pokeball and flicked it into the air revealing the Dragon type from before. Drake hissed at Jolt with warning.
"Alright Drake use your Flamethrower max power and Spin around as you do so!"
The Wyvreon growled and shot out a giant Flamethrower, however he didn''t completely spin around as he did. He was still wary bout all this contest stuff that his trainer found to be so appealing.

"Hmm.." Madison watched the attack, smiling a little to herself as she noted that it had been successful and struck the target with no problem whatsoever. She folded her arms against her chest, as she watched the Zephyeon plummet to the earth and land in a patch of grass not that far off. From the cold, stoic expression on her face, it seemed like the young woman had absolutely no regret for what had just happened. In fact, her smile grew a little, when Tori ran over to check on Sam.
However, this was all a pretense. She did worry a little, particularly when the pokemon had fallen out of the air and onto the ground. When Tori had gone over to inspect Sam, Madison had held her breath for a moment; hoping that Sam wasn't in such bad shape, they'd need to rush her to the pokemon center. But, she knew it was weak to show such things during battle. Even though she had felt guilty there for a moment, until it was clear the Zephyeon was going to pull through, Madison wasn't about to show it. These things happened in battle, after all, and she didn't expect Tori to go easy on her pokemon at all.
Jolt gave a pleased bark, as the Zepyeon was returned to its pokeball and Tori complimented him. Madison just nodded, and unfolded her arms at her opponent's challenging remark about her next pokemon.
"Bring it on, Tori, we're ready for you!"
So she hoped, anyway. Even if Jolt wasn't, she still had a few other pokemon and tricks up her sleeves. Madison stared at the next selection for a moment, awed by its appearance as well. She had to say, though, she liked this one just a little better than Zephyeon. It looked tough. This was going to be an interesting battle, for sure.
"Jolt, try protect!"
As soon as the flames started, the Manectric covered himself in an impenetrable dome of light; sparing himself the first of the flames. But, the attack could only hold up for so long. After only twenty seconds, at most, the shield had faded and the rest of the flames slammed into Jolt's side.
"Maneec!"
He jumped back, wounded by the attack. Not burnt yet, thankfully, but it was obvious that the fire had been painful. Jolt lowered himself to the ground and growled at Drake, knowing he had to be careful with this enemy.
"...Try shock wave again!"
He didn't need to be told twice. Angry about the hot flames that had hurt him, Jolt sent an electric shock Drake's way.

"Yes indeed you'll see. Drake is ready to take on anything you can dish out!"
Tori's self-confidence was wavering, but she continued to keep up her gym leader-like demeanor not willing to show that she had been worried when the electric type and nearly knocked out her Zephyeon.
Drake snorted as the flames still hit it's mark. The thought that such a pokemon had hurt the only pokemon on Tori's team he was friends with made him joyous that he had damaged the electric type.
Tori glanced at the Manectric as he took on a more vicous attitude towards her dragon-type. She knew full well that this pokemon was dangerous and, even though Drake wasn't as affected by electric moves as her zepyheon, she knew that the battle had just become more intense. She was again impressed by the power of the Manectric as it shot out another Shock wave.
"DRAKE ABSORB THE ATTACK"
She curled her fingers into fists at her side as she thought about her next move. "ALRIGHT DRAKE USE DRAGONBREATH AND AIM FOR THE GROUND BY JOLT and then pull into a iron tail"
The Menacing dragon pokemon looked at his trainer and then at Jolt and it was obvious he was considering doing what he wanted, but he knew that the trainer had taken good care of him and it would be wrong to disobey her. He inhaled a deep breath and then exhaled an enormous dragon breath at the ground igniting the ground around Jolt.
As soon as the fire had hidden him, Drake lept into sight a executed his iron tail hopefully hitting the adorable electric type. However it was obvious that the dragon type had been paralyzed and it's speed had dropped.

"I guess we'll find out," Madison remarked coolly, not that long after Tori insisted Drake was ready and prepared for anything they had to dish out. She wasn't certain how true the statement was, and the only way to find out was through battle. But, that was just how she liked things, wasn't it?
She managed a smirk at the thought, holding her body in a confident posture, despite the fact she wasn't certain for how long or well her Manectric would fare against the dragon-type.
Her eyes widened a little, in surprise, as Tori commanded Drake to absorb the electric attack. Just what was she planning here? What sort of scheme was she cooking up, that made it necessary to take in the attack like that? Madison had to say, she was definitely curious. Powerful as it might be, the dragon type would still take some of the brunt of Jolt's blast- so whatever Tori was thinking of doing, she'd better be prepared to make it count.
The look of surprise faded away, as her opponent shouted her next command. Not bad, not bad at all.
"Jolt, try another protect!"
She knew it was risky now, especially so soon after the last one, but they had to at least try. As the Wyvereon shot the intense blasts, Jolt's dome of light came up..and then, much to Madison's disappointment, shattered from the force of the dragonbreath. She gritted her teeth as Manectric howled in pain. The protect had failed, he hadn't been able to gather the necessary amount of energy to keep the shield up.
"Try a thunder fang!"
Jolt didn't move, but it didn't really matter either. Even if he had attempted to do the attack she had commanded, Drake had leapt out of reach by now. Madison clenched her own hands into fists, as she saw the dragon pokemon bearing down on her Manectric, tail glowing in prepartion for the iron tail. It was clear his speed had dropped some, but it wouldn't make too much of a difference, if Jolt didn't get out of the way in time.
"Jolt, look out! Move it!"
There came a loud, almost sickening sound of contact, only a few seconds later. Jolt hadn't moved out of the way, and the iron tail had smashed right into the electric pokemon. He crumbled to the ground, writhing in pain, and Madison held her breath. Was he finished? Had he fainted?
"Jolt!"
"Ma..Manecc.."
Shakily, the electric canine pulled himself to his feet, though he didn't do much else. Energy crackled around him every now and then, and from the way he looked, Madison knew that he was paralyzed. Common sense told her to call him back, but, she wouldn't. Not yet. Maybe he could ride it out, being an electric type. She would keep him out for a little longer, and see what happened.

Tori grimaced as she heard the sickening thud of impact that her Wyvreon had made on the electric canine. She felt bad having Drake attakc the creature in such a harsh manner, but this pokemon was proving to be a challenge and she needed a way to take it down before it could take out anymore of hers. However, the way her Wyvreon was acting, even in it's very weakened state, was making her wary. Needless to say she had keep her wits about her.
"Well I'm not too surprised that your Manectric survived that iron tail, but it is surprising that he survived both of those attacks and still wants to fight. I'm sorry to have to faint such an trooper like him." Tara paused for a moment thinking of which attack might be the best choice to finish the Manectric off with. She thought about going to another physical attack like Iron tail, but worried about Static paralyzing her little Dragon-type. She smiled as she came to her conclusion and ordered her attack.
" DRAKE FINISH IT OFF WITH A FLAMETHROWER!"
Drake glanced over at the struggling electric canine and shook his head. The paralysis had taken affect and he was desperatley tyring to shake it off. However, soon Drake had regained mobility and charged up his firey ray using the rest of his strength. He took one last look at the Manectric before launching his beam of cimson flame towards the injured electric type.

Madison smirked, at Tori's admission that she was impressed. It was followed up by a confident comment about her own pokemon, but it was still a bit flattering nonetheless. Madison prided herself on how tough she'd raised her pokemon to be, and always enjoyed it when other people recognized just how much hard work she and her little troopers had gone through.
"Your pokemon aren't so bad either," she returned, with an approving nod. "You're the first real challenge I've had in ages. You definitely know how to raise your pokemon."
She had no problem recognizing the skill in others, and felt like she owed it to Tori to mention this. Even though the other girl probably found the compliment as obvious as Madison thought about her own strengths. It was nice to have a challenge, after weeks of nothing but newer trainers or...worse, prissy coordinators. Madison wanted to give a dry heave, at the thought of them. At least she wasn't running into tons of them here. Back home, the contest halls attracted so many.
Orre, on the other hand, well...there were some advantages to being a barren desert land, she supposed. She liked this place already, especially since her first battle was becoming so intense.
"Jolt, try to avoid it!"
She returned her senses back to the battle at hand, as the dragon type fired a nasty looking blast of flame. Jolt struggled to get out of the way, but all in vain. The shock of the moves he'd just taken had not entirely worn off, and the wall of fire hit him head on. Madison clicked her tongue, disappointed. She knew he was finished for this battle, right then.
"Jolt, return."
With a flash of crimson light, her manectric was back in the pokeball.
"Hmmm, you sure know your way around a battle."
It both stung to say, yet excited her with the prospect of this challenge. She thought silently for a few moments, about which pokemon she was going to send out next. Which one of hers would hold up better against a dragon?
Her eyes sparkled with a mischievous little gleam, as she came to her conclusion. She was interested to see how Tori would compete with her next pocket monster.
"Avalanche, you're up!"
The light from the pokeball took a huge shape, dissipating into the form of a Rhydon that looked just as eager as his tamer for battle.
"Rock blast!"
Madison decided to waste no time getting straight back into battle. Her Rhydon gave a mighty roar, took a deep breath, and started to shoot large boulders toward his foe.
